Future Outlook for FM in Bangladesh (2026–2030)

The next five years will see the FM sector evolve from a labor-intensive industry to a tech-driven professional service.

1. The Rise of “Smart” and Green Buildings

With over 230 LEED-certified factories and a growing number of high-tech commercial towers in Dhaka and Chattogram, the demand for Hard FM (HVAC, specialized MEP, and Energy Management) is skyrocketing. Facilities managers will transition from reactive repairs to Predictive Maintenance using IoT sensors to monitor equipment health in real-time.

2. Infrastructure-Led Growth

Mega-projects like the Dhaka Metro Rail, Terminal 3 of HSIA, and Economic Zones (BEZA) require world-class upkeep. This is creating a new market for “Large-Scale Public FM,” where specialized firms manage high-traffic transit hubs and industrial parks using global safety and efficiency standards.

3. Shift to Integrated FM (IFM)

Currently, many businesses in Bangladesh hire separate vendors for cleaning, security, and maintenance. The future outlook shows a shift toward Integrated Facilities Management (IFM), where a single professional partner handles everything. This reduces administrative “headaches” and provides better data for the C-suite to make financial decisions.

4. Digital Transformation & Automation

By 2030, manual logbooks will be replaced by CAFM (Computer-Aided Facility Management) software. Mobile apps will allow facility managers to assign work orders instantly, while AI-driven dashboards will track energy consumption and carbon footprints—essential for companies meeting new ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) compliance.

5. Professionalization & Skill Gap

As the industry matures, there will be a high demand for Certified FM Professionals. The role of the “Care taker” is being replaced by “Facility Engineers” and “Data Analysts” who understand both the technical side of a building and the business side of cost-optimization.
